My name is Susannah Ramsay (she/her). As a Stirling-based registered psychodynamic counsellor, I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to help you explore your emotions, past experiences, gender identity, sexuality and relationships with yourself and others.
Difficult past experiences can erode our sense of self, leading to a life that is unfulfilled. Psychodynamic counselling explores unconscious and conscious processes to help you move forward in a more fulfilled way. My approach aims to encourage self-awareness, understanding, meaning and reconnection.
I provide short-term and long-term private counselling to individuals.
My professional counselling experience has included working with third-sector voluntary organisations and secondary schools. I have supported individuals who have experienced chronic anxiety, depression, low mood, bereavement/loss, stress, childhood trauma and abuse, sexual abuse, suicidal thoughts and low self-esteem and confidence.
I have a background in the creative industries, specifically working in film and television. I have also worked as a tutor while completing my doctorate in phenomenology and creative practice at the University of Stirling. Researching phenomenology, or the study of embodied experience, has been integral to my therapeutic training and practice.
I am supported by regular individual and peer supervision and undertake relevant professional development training to enhance my knowledge and practice. As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, I am bound by their Ethical Frameworks for Good Practice.
I am a current member of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme, Disclosure Scotland.
Sessions last 50-minutes and are booked on a weekly basis. Fees are £60, payable in advance of the session. I offer in-person, online and telephone counselling.
An initial no-obligation consultation is £60, payable in advance of the session. This will allow you to discuss your current situation.
For in-person counselling, I am Conveniently located for those working in Stirling city centre or studying at the University at Balallan House, 24 Allan Park, Stirling, FK8 2NQ. The counselling rooms are quiet, confidential and comfortable.
