Saudi Arabia is just beginning to open its gates to the Western world. In 2025 adventurer and explorer Alice Morrison set out to become the first person to walk the Kingdom from North to South since 1932. On her journey she witnessed Bronze Age tombs, Stone Age tools, ancient rock carvings and explored the Kingdom of the Dadanites. Facing extreme weather conditions, hostile environments and challenging reprovisioning, she walked across deserts, over lava mountains and through oases. Met with extraordinary hospitality along the way Alice shares stories of the people she encountered, a country fiercely proud of its past and optimistic about its future amid a cultural revolution, particularly regarding the role of women.
Location: Logie Lecture Theatre, University of Stirling, Stirling, FK9 4LA
